Ford mulling Ryan Return.
Could president Jack Ryan be coming to the big screen?
December 8, 2008
Harrison Ford, fresh off his big-screen return as adventurer Indiana Jones, has expressed interest in reprising another role from his early career.
Ford talked to MTV recently and hinted that he'd be keen on returning to Jack Ryan, the Tom Clancy character he portrayed in 1992's Patriot Games and 1994's Clear and Present Danger. “ I think it's a character I could easily play at this point if people were interested in seeing what happens to Jack Ryan as his life progresses, “ he said.
Were such a film to follow the story progression in Tom Clancy's novels it could see Ryan becoming President and dealing with various international threats, including acts of aggression by the United Islamic Republic and China.
The latest buzz on the Ryan verse's film future is that producers Mace Neufeld and Lorenzo di Bonaventura are exploring taking the reins of the Paramount-based series. The Dark Knight star Aaron Eckhart had been rumored to be in consideration for the Ryan role.
